2nd Shift Direct Care Professional (Full Time) – 3:00 PM to 11:00 AM
Location: Okemos, MI
Heartland Center for Autism is seeking compassionate and dependable individuals to join our team as Direct Care Professionals. This role provides meaningful, hands-on support to children and adolescents with mental health disorders and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in our short-term residential program (14–90 days).

What You’ll Do
- Provide emotional and physical support to residents
- Assist with daily living, self-help, and independence-building skills
- Maintain a clean and therapeutic environment
- Support personal care routines
- Record daily program data and progress notes
- Participate in medication administration (as needed)
- Assist in crisis de-escalation and trained physical intervention when required

Minimum Requirements
- 18 years or older
- Reliable transportation
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Driver’s license (preferred)
- Pre-employment reference check
- Drug screening, TB test, and health screening
- Background check (Central Registry Clearance)
Preferred Experience (Not Required — We Train!)
- Caregiving or related experience (1 year preferred)
- Experience with Autism
- ABA experience
- Group home or residential care experience
Training Provided
- Introduction to ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis)
- Mandt Behavioral Safety Training for crisis prevention and de-escalation
- Ongoing coaching and development

Physical Requirements
- Walk up/down flights of stairs
- Walk up to one mile during community outings
- Lift up to 50 lbs
