Shift Types:
- 1st Shift -7:00 am-3:00 pm
General Responsibilities: Direct Support Technician performs the role of emotional and physical caregiver within a short term (14-90 day) residential unit. Our clients are children and adolescents who have mental health disorders as well as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Personal Traits: Must possess the understanding and ability to cope with emotionally impaired children, as well as the empathy needed to effectively provide services to behaviorally/emotionally challenged children that have an Autism diagnosis. Must be self-directed, responsible, and of good moral character.

Minimum Requirements:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Reliable Transportation
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Driver's License (Preferred)
- Completion pre-employment reference check
- Drug screening, TB and health screening
- Background check (Central Registry Clearance)
- Basic Computer knowledge
Experience:
- Care giving or related experience- 1 Year (preferred)
- ABA (preferred)
- Experience with working with individuals with Autism (preferred)
- Group home experience- (preferred)
Work Location: Okemos, MI
Training that will be provided:
- Introduction to ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) principles and the use of behavior intervention strategies.
- Complete region-specific Behavioral Safety Training (Mandt) to assist in de-escalation of aggressive behavior.

Specific Duties of this position:
- Record basic data on clients’ daily programs
- Work with clients to improve independence with daily living and self-help skills such as:
- Cleaning the residential premises
- Provide personal care assistance to individuals.
- Provide general upkeep of bedrooms, hygiene areas
- Medication administration -As needed
Physical Requirements:
- Must be physically able to walk up and down 3 flights of stairs
- Must be able to walk up to 1 mile in community outings per shift
- Must be able to lift to 50Ibs
- Must be able to safely engage in physical restraints if needed
