Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed medications accurately and safely following established protocols and medical documentation standards.
- Monitor residents’ vital signs, responses to medications, and overall health status, reporting any concerns promptly.
- Maintain detailed and compliant medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Assist with specialized care needs including Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care, hospice care, and tube feeding procedures.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality at all times.
- Support nursing staff with tasks such as catheter care, medication reconciliation, and documenting medical terminology accurately.
- Engage in ongoing training related to physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medication administration best practices to stay current with industry standards.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Medication Technician or Certified Medication Aide with active licensure where applicable.
- Proven experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home & community care environments.
- Strong knowledge of medical procedures including vital signs measurement, catheter care, tube feeding, and medication management.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; experience with medical documentation is highly preferred.
- Excellent understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or those requiring specialized dementia or Alzheimer’s care is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced settings while demonstrating compassion and attention to detail.
