What are the responsibilities and job description for the Christian Summer Camp Lifeguard position at Heartland Camps?

Minimum Qualifications
- Have a relationship with Jesus Christ and desire to share God’s love in all that you do
- Very high work ethic and ability to work long hours
- Ability to handle emergency situations and recall first aid training
General Responsibility
To support Heartland’s mission by creating and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for campers and guests every time they are at the pool. To attend all swimming activities that are assigned by the Program Director during the week.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Facilitate a deep end test for all interested each Monday
- Cleaning when needed; vacuum, cleaning filters, take out trash, cleaning gutters and drains, spray and sweep the deck
- Following all ACA Standards
- Providing water and cups for all swims and requesting more if needed
- Providing at least one water break per swim
- Train back-up lifeguards in proper pool maintenance and pool procedures
- Lock the facilities, turn off the lights each day
- Physically able to travel the trails and roads that connect the program elements and facilities of Heartland camp grounds
- Communicate maintenance needs to Program Assistants or Program Director who may alert Maintenance Staff.
Heartland lifeguards are responsible for maintaining a healthy, clean, and safe environment for the campers and guests of the Center in the swimming pool the facility, and performing emergency rescue procedures related to the swimming pool facility. All lifeguards must have a current “Red Cross Lifeguard” certification or an acceptable equivalent, and must follow all standards and safety precautions as set by Heartland and ACA standards.

- Ability to stay focused and work independently until necessary tasks are complete, to include working non-traditional hours to make certain the job is done well
- Ability to lead all pool facilities, keep them safe, clean and maintained
- Ability to enforce rules and keep high expectations
- Ability to act quickly in emergency situations
- Be a team player
