Barista

Hearth is looking for a warm, dependable, and hospitality-driven Barista to join our team.

What You’ll Do:

• Greet every guest warmly and sincerely from the moment they arrive.
• Create a welcoming and personal experience for both new and returning guests.
• Guide guests through our seasonal coffee, matcha, tea, food, and nonalcoholic beverage offerings.
• Offer thoughtful recommendations based on each guest’s preferences.
• Take orders accurately and communicate allergies, dietary restrictions, and modifications clearly.
• Address guest concerns with empathy, professionalism, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
• Look for meaningful ways to go above and beyond for our guests.

Prepare Excellent Beverages

• Prepare espresso drinks, pour-overs, matcha, tea, and seasonal beverages according to Hearth’s recipes and standards.
• Dial in espresso and make adjustments throughout the shift to maintain quality.
• Steam and texture milk consistently for each beverage.
• Produce clean, thoughtful, and consistent drink presentations.
• Maintain strong knowledge of our coffee offerings, ingredients, preparation methods, and seasonal menu changes.
• Work with care, urgency, and attention to detail during both slower moments and high-volume rushes.
• Ensure every beverage is served promptly and at its best.

Support a Positive Team Environment

• Help create a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment for guests and coworkers.
• Remain calm, adaptable, and organized during busy or challenging shifts.
• Communicate clearly with fellow baristas, Front of House staff, and the kitchen team.
• Restock ingredients, cups, milks, coffee, and other supplies before they run out.
• Step in wherever needed to support the success of the restaurant.

Care for the Coffee Bar

• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked coffee bar throughout the shift.
• Clean and care for espresso machines, grinders, brewers, and other equipment according to established procedures.
• Complete opening, running, and closing responsibilities thoroughly.
• Monitor product quality, freshness, and proper storage.
• Maintain clean counters, tables, service areas, and guest-facing spaces.
• Take pride in ensuring Hearth always feels welcoming, intentional, and thoughtfully maintained.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous barista, coffee shop, restaurant, or hospitality experience is preferred.
• A genuine passion for coffee, hospitality, and taking care of people.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A positive, team-oriented attitude.
• The ability to remain composed, organized, and efficient in a fast-paced environment.
• Dependability, punctuality, and strong attention to detail.
• A willingness to learn about coffee, espresso, matcha, seasonal ingredients, and Hearth’s food offerings.
• The ability to stand and move throughout the shift and safely lift and carry restaurant supplies.
• A current California Food Handler Card or the ability to obtain one.
• Weekend availability is required. Applicants must be available to work Saturdays.

Hearth is a neighborhood restaurant in Moorpark serving thoughtfully prepared coffee, seasonal drinks, lunch, Latin-inspired plates, and wood-fired pizza.

We are a small, community-focused restaurant that values quality, creativity, teamwork, and genuine hospitality. Our baristas help set the tone for each day and create the first impression many guests have of Hearth.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $16.90 per hour, plus tips

Schedule: Morning and daytime shifts. Weekend availability is required.
