What are the responsibilities and job description for the Animal Care Attendant position at Hearth and Hound?
Job Summary
Do you believe that muddy paws are a badge of honor? Do you think "best day ever" means being surrounded by dogs and a few fabulous cats? Are you energized by zoomies, enrichment activities, tail wags? We are looking specifically for help on weekends.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care, feeding, and enrichment for animals
- Supervising safe, structured dog play groups
- Administer medications and treatments following veterinary instructions accurately
- Supporting enrichment activities for the dogs
- Monitoring behavior and ensuring a safe environment
- Handle a variety of animals including dogs, cats, and small animals
- Assist with pet care activities such as bathing, grooming, and exercise routines
- Support front desk duties including client communication, appointment scheduling, and check-in/check-out processes when needed
- Maintain cleanliness of playrooms, kennels, yards and equipment in accordance with safety standards
Requirements
- Prior kennel experience or animal husbandry background preferred
- Experience working in a veterinary clinic or hospital setting is highly desirable
- Skills in animal feeding, medication administration, and pet handling are essential
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Compassionate attitude towards animals and clients alike
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Experience supervising playgroups is highly desirable
- Must be able to work rotating weekends and holidays
