Heartfelt Impressions Learning Centers is urgently seeking a Food Service Cook for our Lake Orion center to cover a medical leave of absence! In this position you would be serving 215 children, delicious-healthy meals.You will work in conjunction with our Food Service director to create monthly menus and will oversee weekly food deliveries and inventory of the kitchen. Job Details:Status: Temporary – full-timeSchedule: Monday-Friday, 7am-3pm or 7:30am-3:30pmDesired length: ASAP – February 27, 2026 (potentially longer)Location: Onsite, Lake Orion, MIReports to: Center DirectorPay range: $16.50-$18.00/hour depending upon experienceQualifications: High school diploma or equivalentExperience in food preparation, preferably in a childcare or institutional settingKnowledge of food safety and sanitation practices (ServSafe certification preferred)Ability to follow written and verbal instructionsFlexibility to work on short notice and adapt to changing schedulesAbility to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periodsMust pass background checks and health screenings as required by state regulationsResponsibilities:The temporary Food Service Cook plays a vital role in supporting the nutritional needs of young children by preparing and serving meals in accordance with established menus, health regulations, and safety standards. This position ensures continuity of food service operations during the absence of regular staff and contributes to a positive, nurturing environment for children ages 0–5.Prepare and serve meals and snacks following approved menus and portion guidelinesMaintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, equipment, and food storage areasFollow all food safety and hygiene protocols, including proper food handling and storageAssist with inventory management and notify supervisor of supply needsWash dishes, utensils, and cookware used in meal preparation and serviceEnsure meals meet dietary restrictions and allergy accommodations as directedCollaborate with teaching and administrative staff to coordinate meal times and delivery to classroomsMaintain accurate records of food temperatures, cleaning schedules, and meal countsAdhere to licensing and regulatory requirements for early childhood food serviceWork Environment:Fast-paced kitchen setting within an early childhood education center.
