What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recovery Advocate Specialist position at Heart Rock Recovery?
Overdose Lifeline (ODL) is currently seeking a passionate individual to join Overdose Lifeline as a Recovery Advocate Specialist (RAS) at the Heart Rock Justus Family Recovery Center.
Position Summary:
The Recovery Advocate Specialist supports the daily operations of the Recovery House by providing supervision, structure, and supportive services for residents and their children. This role ensures a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-focused environment while also aligning with requirements of DCS expectations, programs, and agency standards. The RAS also assists with documentation, transportation, parenting services, and facilitating groups when required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must have a high school diploma, associate, or bachelor’s degree in the field of social work, or another related field of study; be over 21 years of age
- Prior professional experience or knowledge of mental health/substance use disorders and child welfare strongly preferred
- Knowledge of community resources
- Health promotion or harm reduction work
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a valid driver license
- Have dependable transportation
- Maintain car insurance
- Ethics Training Certification (within the first year of being hired)
- Doula certification or experience a plus
- Must be able to pass the Department of Child Services Background Check
- Must be able to pass criminal background check
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Ensure residents are following daily programming
- Ensure residents are abiding by the Recovery House rules and regulations
- Providing information and supportive services for staff, residents, and visitors
- Performing other administrative duties as requested by the Executive Director
- Maintaining complete, accurate and timely information on calls, visitors and residents and completing subsequent data entry
- Monitoring security systems, respond to alarms appropriately and apprise management of any security issues
- Perform security checks within the house to increase safety of residents and staff
- Provide residents with information and support as appropriate
- Foster an environment supportive of recovery while providing respect and dignity to residents, staff, visitors, and callers
- Work with other agency staff on projects or initiatives as directed by the Operations Director
- Ensure the house is fully stocked with essential and necessary grocery items
- Able to work shifts that include holidays
- Other duties as assigned

- Excellent communications skills (written & verbal). Bi-lingual skills (Spanish) a plus

Hiring for 2nd shift Thurs-Saturday(4pm-12am), Sunday (8am-4pm), 3rd shift Fri-Sunday (12am-8am), and PRN as needed
