Requirements
What You’ll Do:
- Task Prioritization: Effectively prioritizes tasks to ensure smooth patient tracking and maintain efficient patient flow.
- Patient Records Management: Ensures patient records are complete and up-to-date.
- Communication: Answers telephone calls and relays messages to patients, nursing staff, medical staff, and other departments in a courteous and helpful manner.
- Patient Care Assistance: Provides direct and indirect patient care as assigned, under the supervision of nursing staff and ED Providers.
- Technical Patient Care Assistance: Assists Registered Nurses (RNs) and/or ED Providers with technical care such as phlebotomy, IV starts, finger stick blood glucose tests, EKGs, and splinting. (Tasks performed only upon completion of an IV certification course and competency assessment within the organization.)
- Patient Transport: Assists in the safe transport of stable patients to other care units as needed.
- Clear Communication: Effectively communicates patient care needs to the primary RN and/or ED Provider in a positive and clear manner.
- Equipment and Workspace Maintenance: Assists with the cleaning and sterilization of equipment and ensures work areas are organized and safe.
- Equipment Troubleshooting: Recognizes equipment malfunctions and promptly refers them for repair.
- Supply Management: Assists with the procurement, organization, and stocking of supplies within the department.
- Crisis Management: Responds effectively in emergency or crisis situations, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Clinical Skills Proficiency:
- Obtaining vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, respirations).
- Application of cardiac monitors.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
- Minimal requirements include: completion of training as a Basic EMT with IV certification.
- Current NEMT and/or Colorado EMT with IV certification.
- Must maintain current BLS certification.
