EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:
- May administer medications, immunizations, treatment and observes patients for unusual symptoms and reactions.
- May conduct physical, developmental, and psychosocial assessments of consumers health needs and implement appropriate action.
- Obtains lab specimens needed for routine labs.
- Instruct, counsel, and assist consumers in meeting their health care needs.
- May make appropriate referrals to physician office or community resources.
- Identify community services and make referrals to health care services.
- Assists in evaluating services provided and makes recommendations for improvements.
- Participate in quality assurance reviews as required.
- Train other staff as required.
- Perform related work as assigned.
Experience:
Experience in psychiatric nursing is preferred.
Education:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in nursing or from an accredited nursing program is required.
- Must have a valid Texas nursing license.
- Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse by the State of Texas or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact.

- Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
- Must demonstrate a caring attitude and communicate effectively with consumers, other staff and family members.
- Ability to work as a team member in all areas of planning and assist individuals in meeting their goals.
- Must be able to make decisions based on sound judgement in collaboration with other team members.
- Knowledge of nursing techniques and procedures, health care laws and regulations, medical diagnoses and procedures, accepted medical treatment programs, and community health and nursing care principles, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to provide patient care, prepare and maintain records, explain public health law, and to train others.
- Ability to learn about and implement trauma-informed care practices within the scope of work for the position.
- Must have and maintain a level of general health that permits the performance of the job duties and ability to maintain regular attendance as set forth in Center policies and procedures.
- Must be able to perform skills required by CPR, First Aid, and PMAB certification. Ability to be able to lift 50 lbs.

Salary: $33.00 Hourly; $68,640.00 Annually
