Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling tools like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, administering medications, and maintaining detailed care plans in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support residents during meals by preparing nutritious food, assisting with eating, and encouraging healthy dietary habits.
- Engage residents in social activities and community outings to promote socialization and mental stimulation.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring infection control protocols are followed.
- Observe residents closely for signs of health changes or distress, especially in dementia or Alzheimer's care settings, and report findings promptly.
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other manual handling devices to ensure safe transfers and prevent injury for both residents and staff.
Experience
- Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or neurodevelopmental disorders is highly preferred.
- Experience in group home settings, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is beneficial.
- Knowledge of medication administration, patient monitoring, and care plan implementation is essential.
- Familiarity with dementia care, memory care practices, hospice care principles, and Alzheimer’s support enhances your ability to provide specialized assistance.
- Demonstrated ability to perform patient observation, vital sign measurement, CPR certification, first aid training, and HIPAA compliance is required.
- Hands-on experience with manual handling techniques such as heavy lifting or transferring residents using Hoyer lifts is advantageous.
- Strong caregiving skills combined with excellent communication abilities to collaborate effectively with team members and families.
