Duties
- Assist nursing staff with patient care activities such as bathing, feeding, mobility, and comfort measures to promote patient well-being.
- Perform clinical procedures including catheterization, IV insertion, phlebotomy, suturing assistance, and pulse oximetry monitoring with precision and adherence to aseptic techniques.
- Monitor vital signs regularly—such as blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate—and document findings accurately in patient records.
- Operate medical equipment like cardiac event monitors, ventilators, and other bedside devices to support diagnosis and treatment.
- Conduct cardiac rhythm analysis and interpret ECGs to identify abnormal rhythms or arrhythmias requiring immediate attention.
- Support emergency response efforts by performing CPR and basic life support (BLS) procedures when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through proper infection control practices, including aseptic technique and heavy lifting protocols when handling equipment or moving patients.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of human physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology to understand patient conditions effectively.
- Proven experience in hospital or acute care settings with exposure to emergency room procedures is highly desirable.
- Skilled in venipuncture, venipuncture techniques (phlebotomy), and venous access management.
- Ability to operate medical equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to hospital protocols.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams and explaining procedures clearly to patients.
- Physical stamina for heavy lifting, prolonged standing, walking long distances within hospital facilities, and assisting with patient transfers.
- Knowledge of cardiac event monitoring systems and the ability to analyze cardiac rhythms accurately.
