What are the responsibilities and job description for the Specimen Technician position at Heart Care 360 & Vein Center?
Job Description:
- Perform specimen handling, sorting, racking, centrifugation, aliquoting, storage, and delivery.
- Identify and resolve issues with specimen types, missing information, or test orders.
- Ensure compliance with test ordering regulations and maintain accuracy in data entry.
- Meet quality and production standards; complete all required documentation accurately and on time.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area while adhering to safety and compliance policies.
- Support department staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts.
- Communicate effectively with team members and demonstrate flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
- Develop understanding of Tech Ops and Specimen Processing functions to progress to higher levels.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED; medical background preferred.
- Good organizational and minimal data entry skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to lift to 50 lbs. and maneuver specimen carts.
- Previous production or laboratory experience preferred; familiarity with mainframe systems a plus.
