Job Description

Hearst Newspapers is seeking a dependable and hardworking Part-Time Industrial Cleaner & Production Assistant to join our team. The primary focus of this role is maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient production facility through industrial cleaning and housekeeping practices. The successful candidate will help ensure our pressroom, production areas, warehouse spaces, and offices meet cleanliness and safety standards while supporting overall operational efficiency.

In addition to industrial cleaning responsibilities, this position will provide support to our production team by assisting with inserting, inkjet mailing, packaging, and postal distribution operations as needed.

Schedule

• Afternoon Shift
• 4 days per week
• 7-hour shifts
• Up to 28 hours per week
• Schedule may vary based on production needs

Key Responsibilities

Industrial Cleaning (Primary Responsibilities)

• Clean and maintain pressroom, production, warehouse, and office areas
• Sweep, vacuum, mop, and scrub floors throughout the facility
• Remove paper waste, dust, ink residue, and other production-related debris
• Clean production equipment exteriors and surrounding work areas
• Empty and dispose of trash and recycling materials
• Maintain restrooms, breakrooms, and common areas
• Follow all safety procedures and proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment
• Identify and report maintenance or safety concerns to management
• Assist with facility organization and housekeeping projects

Production Support (Secondary Responsibilities)

• Operate and feed pre-prints into inserting machines
• Perform inkjet mailing tasks
• Assist with postal distribution and packaging operations
• Support production staff during peak workloads and special projects
• Maintain quality and safety standards while performing production duties

Qualifications

• Reliable with strong attendance and punctuality
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Previous industrial cleaning, janitorial, custodial, or manufacturing experience preferred
• Ability to safely lift up to 30 pounds
• Comfortable standing, walking, bending, and performing physical work throughout the shift
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace cleanliness and safety
• Manufacturing or production experience is a plus but not required
