What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll own the community beat — keeping readers informed, engaged, and inspired. Whether it’s covering breaking news, or crafting long-form features, you’ll produce impactful journalism that resonates across digital and print platforms.

• Deliver accurate, compelling stories with speed and clarity.
• Preview and cover community events.
• Source stories that matter by building strong, local connections.
• Collaborate with editors and digital producers to optimize storytelling for digital audiences with a focus on video storytelling and social media engagement.
• Juggle breaking news with feature writing — and know when to pivot as news breaks.

What We’re Looking For

• A degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
• Proven news reporting experience — internships and campus media count!
• Natural curiosity and a passion for covering public affairs.
• Excellent writing, interviewing, and organizational skills.
• Experience and proficiency in video storytelling.
• A self-starter who thrives under deadline pressure.
• Bonus points for experience with FOIA/public records requests.
