Patient Care Coordinator
Primary Responsibilities
We are seeking an outgoing and compassionate team member to be the patient care coordinator (PCC) for our practice. The PCC is the face of the practice and greets all of our families and patients into our office with a welcoming smile. The PCC is responsible for checking out patients, taking payments, answering phones, answering emails, answering faxes, scheduling appointments, prepping for the next day of appointments, data entry, verifying insurance benefits, simple cleaning of hearing aids and assisting the audiologists. Must have a good understanding of health insurance billing and be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Must be adaptable and have a willingness to learn. Position is 5 days a week, Monday-Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm with a 1/2 hour lunch.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent phone etiquette and verbal communication skills, email skills, word processing, and computer skills
- Careful attention to detail
- Ability to work as a team member or individually
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to multitask
- Maintain strict confidentiality
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to be compassionate
- Neat and well-groomed appearance
- Must be able to fit into our company culture
- Previous customer service experience
- Preferred Bilingual English/Spanish
- Experience with Medical Billing and Insurance
Additional Responsibilities
- Informing Providers that patients have arrived in the clinic
- Rooming patients when their appointment begins
- Assisting Providers on various tasks
- Checking email and phone messages for the clinic and pass on to the appropriate staff member
- Contacting patients when hearing aids are ready for collection after repair
- Contacting patients to schedule delivery appointments when hearing aids are received
- Arranging couriers for sending packages to manufacturers
- Confirming clinic appointments (by mail and telephone)
- Creation and organization of electronic medical records (includes data entry and ability to scan documents)
- Ensuring waiting area and exam rooms are clean and tidy at all times, stocked with supplies, and supplies are reordered as needed
- Identifying when parts, batteries, stationery, etc. are in need of reorder and placing orders
- Obtaining physician referrals for patient appointments
- Accounts receivable – Posting payments in the database
- Accounts payable – Paying for any outstanding invoices with vendors
- Any other duties within the staff member’s level of competence as required
