Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Concrete Estimator to join our team. You will be responsible for providing accurate bid proposals and scope analysis for a variety of concrete construction projects, including commercial and industrial sectors. Your role is critical in ensuring our bids remain competitive while maintaining company profitability.
Key Responsibilities
• Quantity Takeoffs: Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from architectural and engineering drawings using on-screen takeoff software.
• Cost Estimation: Calculate comprehensive costs for materials (concrete, rebar, forms), labor, equipment, and logistics.
• Bid Preparation: Develop and present competitive bid proposals that outline scope, pricing, and project timelines.
• Risk Assessment: Identify potential project risks or uncertainties in design and include necessary contingencies.
• Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, vendors, and subcontractors to gather pricing and clarify project requirements.
• Database Management: Maintain and update a database of material costs and historical project data to improve future estimating accuracy.
• Site Visits: Conduct occasional site visits to assess existing conditions and collect data for complex repair or restoration projects.
Required Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent field experience).
• Experience: 1–5 years of experience in construction estimating, specifically focusing on concrete (footings, foundations, flatwork).
• Software Proficiency: Skilled in estimating software like Bluebeam Revu, PlanSwift, AGTEK, or ProEst, as well as Microsoft Excel.
• Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.
• Analytical Skills: Strong mathematical aptitude and attention to detail to ensure high-precision estimates.
