Key Responsibilities
The Electrical Engineering Co-Op performs a variety of assignments involving in application of foundational electrical engineering principles within HEAPY projects. This position is designed to provide hands-on experience in the built environment while developing both technical and professional skills. The Co-Op supports project teams by contributing to design tasks, learning industry tools and standards, and gaining exposure to real-world engineering applications under the guidance of experienced colleagues.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Candidates should be currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Architectural Engineering, or a related AEC discipline from an ABET-accredited (or equivalent accredited) program. The Co-Op requires the ability to work full-time (40 hours per week) for the duration of a semester, along with legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. Ideal candidates demonstrate strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, bring excellent attention to detail, and are committed to producing high-quality work. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to collaborate successfully within a team environment. Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite is expected, and exposure to AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software is preferred but not required.

- Develops and applies foundational electrical engineering knowledge within the built environment.
- Supports project teams with design tasks, documentation, and basic calculations.
- Learns and utilizes design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, or other applicable software.
- Ensures accuracy and quality in all assigned work while building an understanding of the underlying principles.
- Collaborates with colleagues to support project deliverables and meet deadlines.
- Gathers, organizes, and documents information for use in designs, reports, and specifications.
- Participates in quality assurance activities by reviewing work for completeness and accuracy.
- Engages in continuous learning through training, mentorship, and hands-on experience.
