Location: Coconut Creek, FL (Hybrid – Onsite Monday–Thursday, Remote Fridays)
Type: Contractor 3 months – 12 months with extension expected
Overview
HealthyMD is seeking a visionary Data Architect/Engineer leader to design, build, and govern our enterprise data ecosystem while driving data strategy, reporting, and analytics across the organization. This role combines strategic architecture with hands-on engineering leadership and will serve as the Data Governance Leader for HealthyMD.
The ideal candidate will eventually lead a small hybrid team of Data Analysts, and BI Developers ensuring robust data models, pipelines, and governance frameworks. This individual will be responsible for data quality, compliance, and reporting excellence, enabling HealthyMD to become a truly data-driven organization. Reporting directly to the CIO, this role will influence executive decisions and support clinical, pharmacy, lab, and operational workflows through advanced analytics and AI-driven insights.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Data Strategy & Governance
- Define and implement enterprise data architecture standards and governance frameworks.
- Serve as the Data Governance Leader, ensuring data integrity, lineage tracking, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Establish data stewardship roles, policies, and procedures across HealthyMD.
- Drive data quality initiatives and enforce best practices for metadata and master data management.
- Act as the primary decision-maker for data architecture, pipeline design, and Bl operations, balancing speed, stability, and scalability.
Leadership & Team Management
- Build a high-performing data team, including Data Analysts, BI Developers, and Data Engineers.
- Provide mentorship, career development, and performance management for direct reports.
- Foster a data-driven culture across the organization through education and advocacy.
Data Architecture & Engineering
- Design logical and physical data models for clinical, pharmacy, lab, and operational domains.
- Architect and manage cloud-based data platforms (Azure, AWS) for scalability and resilience.
- Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and unstructured data across multiple sources (EHR, pharmacy, labs, TPAs, CRM).
- Implement real-time and batch data processing using modern frameworks (Spark, Databricks).
Analytics, Reporting & BI
- Ability to understand end-to-end data and Bl operations, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability of data platforms and reporting solutions.
- Provide hands-on leadership and rapid support for data pipelines, applications, and reporting issues, making immediate changes when required without disrupting downstream processes.
- Oversee development of dashboards, KPIs, and reporting solutions for executive and operational teams.
- Enable predictive analytics, machine learning, and AI-driven automation for advanced insights.
- Collaborate with business units to define data requirements and performance metrics.
Vendor & External Partner Collaboration
- Act as the primary liaison for data-related vendor engagements and external partners, ensuring alignment with HealthyMD’s data strategy.
- Serve as a strong communicator between technical teams, business stakeholders, and executive leadership.
- Evaluate vendor solutions, negotiate contracts, and manage deliverables for data platforms and analytics tools.
Compliance & Security
- Ensure adherence to HIPAA, HITRUST, TEFCA, and other regulatory frameworks.
- Implement data encryption, access controls, and audit readiness across all environments.
Required Qualifications
- 8 years of experience in data architecture and engineering roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
- Proven expertise in data governance, data modeling, and integration.
- Strong experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and modern data tools (Databricks, Synapse, Snowflake).
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, and distributed data processing frameworks (Spark, Hadoop).
- Knowledge of interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR) and healthcare data terminologies (SNOMED, LOINC, RxNorm).
- Experience managing BI development and reporting teams.
- Excellent communication and executive stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with AI/ML enablement and advanced analytics platforms.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) for data services.
- Knowledge of observability tools for data pipeline monitoring.
- Strong background in healthcare or correctional healthcare environments.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following fields:
- Computer Science, Information Technology, or Software Engineering
- Data Science, Information Systems, or Health Informatics
- Master’s Degree in:
- Data Science, Health Informatics, or IT Management
- MBA with a concentration in Technology or Healthcare Analytics
