Western Region Program Coordinator (Full-Time, Contract Position)

About Healthy Lifestars: Healthy LifeStars® (HLS) is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to motivate and educate kids to live active, healthy lives now and in the future. Position Overview: Healthy LifeStars® is seeking a passionate and community-rooted Western Region Program Coordinator to support and strengthen program delivery across Arizona and Colorado. This is a hybrid position, a blend of working from home and working directly in the community, for 35 hours per week.

The ideal candidate is based in the Phoenix, AZ or Denver, CO metro area and brings firsthand knowledge of the communities, schools, and youth-serving organizations we are working to reach. You do not just understand our mission from the outside , you have lived it, worked in it, or built something within it. That connection is not a bonus; it is central to what we are looking for.

Compensation ranges from $3,400 to $3,800 per month depending on experience. This position begins as a full-time contractor role with the opportunity to transition to a full-time permanent position. Reports to the National Program Director.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Program Coordination & Support

•      Support the onboarding and coordination of schools, afterschool programs, and youth-serving organizations implementing The LifeStar® Challenge

•      Conduct outreach to prospective program partners and share information about The LifeStar® Challenge and its benefits

•      Assist with securing site agreements and ensuring successful program launch and implementation at new partner sites

•      Provide ongoing implementation support and light coaching to program sites throughout the school year

•      Conduct regular site visits to build relationships, support program fidelity, and gather stories and data

•      Track and report program metrics in coordination with the national office using Notion (our program management platform)

•      Share insights and feedback to inform continuous program improvement

Community Engagement & Representation

•      Represent Healthy LifeStars® at local education events, health fairs, conferences, and community gatherings

•      Build and maintain genuine relationships with school leaders, educators, nonprofit partners, and community stakeholders

•      Serve as a local ambassador for Healthy LifeStars®, someone who is known, trusted, and connected in the communities we serve

•      Attend school and community events as a visible HLS presence (open houses, parent nights, assemblies, health fairs, etc.)

•      Participate in bi-monthly networking sessions to grow the HLS partner pipeline in your region

Coach & Partner Support

•      Maintain monthly touchpoints with every active coach in your region.

•      Support coaches in completing the monthly program survey and follow up directly with those who miss it

•      Identify and cultivate strong coach relationships that can serve as the foundation for success stories and student spotlights

•      Work with coaches and school leaders to select one student per core state to follow as a Student Spotlight throughout the program — documenting their journey in three chapters (beginning, mid-year, and end of year)

•      Collect at least one coach success story per semester and submit to the National Program Director and Communications team for use in newsletters, social media, and grant reporting

Organizational Support

•      Assist with community-based events celebrating student participation and program milestones (periodic and seasonal)

•      Provide limited support for fundraising or cultivation events as requested (e.g., Step Up for Kids™ or local engagement activities)

•      Submit monthly regional progress report by the first Monday of each month

•      Keep Notion updated weekly with all outreach, partner status, site visit logs, and coach survey tracking

•      Support additional program-related duties as outlined by the National Program Director

Qualifications:

Required

•      Enthusiastic self-starter with a genuine passion for youth health, wellness, and the Healthy LifeStars® mission

•      2–3 years of relevant experience in education, youth services, nonprofit programming, or community engagement

•      Prior experience working in or alongside the communities HLS serves — including schools, youth programs, or health-focused organizations in the Phoenix or Denver metro area

•      Strong organizational skills and ability to manage tasks, timelines, and relationships independently

•      Comfortable communicating with educators, school leaders, and community partners at all levels

•      Strong verbal and written communication skills

•      Reliable transportation and willingness to travel locally for site visits and events

•      Ability to work remotely with reliable internet and phone access

•      Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training

Strongly Preferred

•      Background in K–12 education, physical education, school administration, or school-based programming

•      Experience building community partnerships, running outreach campaigns, or growing a partner network from the ground up

•      Existing relationships with schools, nonprofits, or youth-serving organizations in the Phoenix or Denver area

•      Familiarity with Notion, Google Workspace, or similar project management and collaboration tools
