- Echocardiography:
- Performs comprehensive echocardiograms (2D, 3D, Doppler, stress echo) to assess heart structure and function.
- Prepares patients for procedures, explains processes, and addresses concerns.
- Ensures patient comfort and safety during examinations.
- Maintains accurate patient records and documentation.
- Collaborates with healthcare providers to determine specific requirements of each examination.
- Vascular Studies:
- Performs diagnostic vascular examinations (peripheral, carotid, and venous) to evaluate blood flow and identify potential problems.
- Identifies abnormalities like aneurysms, blockages, and clots.
- May assist in invasive procedures using ultrasound guidance.
- General Responsibilities:
- Operates and maintains ultrasound equipment.
- Analyzes and interprets ultrasound images.
- Provides preliminary data and reports to physicians.
- Collaborates with healthcare teams to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment.
- Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
- Stays current with advancements in technology and best practices.
- May assist with quality control and quality assurance protocols.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in diagnostic medical sonography, cardiovascular technology, or a related field.
- Certification: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT).
- Experience: Previous experience in cardiac imaging or vascular studies.
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of ultrasound equipment, procedures, and techniques.
- Proficiency: Proficiency in electronic medical record software.
