Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs, observe their condition closely, and report any changes or concerns to healthcare professionals promptly.
- Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans developed by medical teams.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal planning and cooking.
- Provide personal transportation assistance for appointments, errands, or community outings to promote independence and social engagement.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and maintaining resident spaces according to health standards.
- Document patient observations accurately, update care plans regularly, and ensure residents’ rights are upheld at all times.
Requirements
- Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or in senior care settings such as nursing homes or assisted living facilities.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, first aid, CPR certification, and basic life support skills.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and use manual handling equipment like Hoyer lifts effectively.
- Strong communication skills to interact empathetically with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Experience working with residents who have memory care needs or require specialized dementia or Alzheimer’s care is highly desirable.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings or weekends as needed in home health or community care environments.
