Position Description
Under the limited supervision of the C.O.O., the Logistics Manager will be responsible for the oversight of all freight in and out of HFI facilities and all partner facilities/warehouses and foreign suppliers/customers. This will include a hands-on approach of working with the facilities, sales, procurement and quality to ensure the most efficient movement of product. The position will also assist the C.O.O. with other projects as necessary.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead the logistics department to maximize efficiency and ensure the best option to transport products into and out of HFI facilities and/or vendors/customers.
- Oversee pickup and delivery of all products in the logistics chain.
- Maintain relationships with rail systems for movement of HFI product by rail.
- Provide direction for international shipping with imports (procurement) and exports (sales) including working with freight forwarders and preparing documentation.
- Coordinate with the quality team on food safety policies regarding transportation of goods.
- Communicate with facilities, sales, procurement and quality to ensure timely delivery of product, and to advise immediately if an issue arises that will prevent an order from delivering on schedule.
- Oversee outside/third party warehouses used by HFI for storage needs of raw and finished goods.
- Maintain records as needed (documentation, software entry, etc.)
- Create logistics documentation (BOL, truck forms, customs documents, etc.).
- Report and advise management of all logistical concerns.
