Definition
The Communications Specialist plays a key role in strengthening HealthWorks? visibility, community engagement, and brand awareness. This position requires creativity, excellent communication skills, and a passion for community health and equity. The primary focus of this position is to develop creative and strategic communications that share HealthWorks? impact, promote programs and events, and support fundraising and outreach initiatives.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Content Creation: Develop compelling content for digital and print platforms, including newsletters, press releases, website updates, social media posts, and patient or donor stories.
- Social Media Management: Manage and grow HealthWorks? social media presence across multiple platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X/Twitter). Create engaging posts, campaigns, and multimedia content to increase community engagement and brand awareness.
- Design and Branding: Design and produce marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, event collateral, and signage, ensuring consistent use of HealthWorks? branding and messaging.
- Media and Public Relations: Under the supervision of the Director of Communications and Development, will assist in media and public relations activities to share HealthWorks? stories, initiatives, and press releases.
- Performance Analytics: Track, analyze, and report on communications metrics (website traffic, social engagement, email performance, etc.), and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
- Community Engagement: Represent HealthWorks at business, civic, and community events to promote programs, build partnerships, and enhance public awareness of our mission.
- Digital Management: Maintain and update website content for accuracy and engagement, applying SEO best practices to improve search visibility and audience reach. Manage and optimize HealthWorks? Google Ad Grant campaigns to drive website traffic, increase visibility, and promote services and events.
- Measurement: Use tools such as Google Analytics and social media insights to track and analyze the performance of digital and print communications, providing insights and recommendations to strengthen outreach.
- Physician Outreach. Compile and maintain a list of physician practices to promote programs and build partnership.
- Business Outreach. Compile and maintain a list of employers in Loudoun and Fairfax counties, schedule meetings, and assist in the development of a presentation to these companies highlighting HealthWorks as a preferred medical provider.
- Events. Assist in planning and executing HealthWorks events.
