Production Packer I
Job Summary
The Production Packer I is responsible for inspecting, packaging, and handling finished products to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency. This role supports production operations by maintaining standards for packaging, cleanliness, and food safety while working closely with operators and team members.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic understanding of manufacturing and packaging processes
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately
- Ability to read and speak English clearly
- Basic math and computer skills
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to assess equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing or packaging environment
- Familiarity with safety regulations and quality control procedures
- Experience operating packing machinery or equipment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect finished products before packaging to ensure quality standards are met
- Report issues with quality, labeling, weight, or seals to operators or management
- Remove defective or non-standard products and place them in designated bins
- Maintain clean and safe work areas, including emptying waste bins as needed
- Prepare containers and verify correct code dates on packaging
- Pack products into containers according to production requirements
- Meet daily packaging targets for cases or containers
- Assist with training new packaging employees
- Support product changeovers between production runs
- Complete required documentation and data entry tasks
- Maintain sanitation standards and follow GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
- Assist on other production lines as needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Food Safety Responsibilities
- Report equipment issues or needed repairs to Production Management
- Follow all allergen and waste handling procedures
- Ensure compliance with company, customer, and regulatory food safety standards
- Report any food safety or quality concerns immediately
- Take action to prevent nonconforming products or processes
Organizational Relationships
- Reports to Production Manager(s)
- Works closely with room operators during shifts
Physical Demands
- Regular standing, walking, bending, and squatting
- Frequent use of hands for handling materials and equipment
- Occasional lifting up to 60 pounds
- Ability to climb ladders or steps
Work Environment
- Indoor food processing facility
- Conditions may include wet floors, humidity, and dust
- Moderate noise levels (hearing protection available if needed)
- Exposure to food allergens
Monday - Thursday - 5am to 5pm ; occasional Fridays
