Must have: Good communication skills – will be talking to nursing staff and other licensed staff that call into the pharmacy; basic technician experience – filling pyxis machines, picking medications for the pyxis machines; basic computer skills for prepacking medications; logging into Meditech Expanse. Very fast spaced environment.
Advanced skills needed: IV training would be great or a candidate that would be willing to learn IV sterile compounding.
Procedures performed on unit: In the pharmacy: Distribution tasks include but not limited: picking and delivering medications to Pyxis machines; answering phones; taking missing med technician on imobile device during shift for rapid communication with nursing staff; prepacking medications into unit dose containers. Emptying return bins with another technician on designated locations daily; station inspections; checking for outdates in the pharmacy; returning medications to stock; helping put away medication delivery orders from the wholesaler
