Job Summary

The Interim Consultant of Lab Services serves to fill vacancies as they occur in HCA facilities in a temporary capacity until a permanent replacement is chosen by the facility. The Interim Consultants are contracted through HealthTrust Workforce Solutions, and once contracted, assumes the director duties of a given Lab Services as defined by the facility.

Responsibilities & Job Functions

• Responsible for the 24-hour, seven day a week functions of the assigned Lab and related Departments as assigned
• Responsible for recognizing results or problems that require referral to the laboratory pathologist
• Reviews and updates goals, policies, and procedures as needed, prepares operating budgets as required, participates in multidisciplinary QI teams, consults with staff, physicians and other departments as needed, and interacts with patients as appropriate
• Manages staffing patterns with support from Lab Manager
• Ensures that services are of the best quality, are cost contained and are carried out in an expeditious manner
  
  
  

Education & Experience

• Past experience as a Lab Manager/Director.
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology, or Microbiology.
• Master’s preferred.
  
  
  

Experience is variable; and while managerial experience in the clinical laboratory of an acute hospital is important, the candidate’s character and performance is also paramount. Additionally, experience with regulatory and accreditation of laboratory operations will be considered a positive attribute.
