Hours:
Monday - Thursday 8am -5pm Friday 8am-2pm
Essential Functions:
- Answers telephone, screens calls, retrieves voicemails, and returns patient calls.
Responsible for calling in prescribed medications and refills.
Responsible for scheduling procedures, certain medical tests and referral appointments by scheduling dates, times and locations, coordinating and rescheduling as necessary.
- Responsible for communication with patients regarding patient information and education.
- Answers questions regarding patient appointments and testing.
- Responsible for pre-certing requirements for all procedures and medications.
- Responsible for scheduling appointments, verifying all necessary information such as demographics and insurance information in the patient medical record or file.
- Responsible for electronic patient prescription services including communication with pharmacies and verification of all medical prescriptions.
- Clinical responsibilities include patient triage (weight, blood pressure, temperature readings, updating medication list and obtaining and documentation of chief complaint).
- Must be knowledgeable of EMR.
- Must be trained in phlebotomy, EKG's and PFT's.
- Must be cross-trained as a scribe for EMR.
- Assists other staff as directed.
- Responsible for other clinical job functions as directed.
- Attends meetings as required.
Education/Skills/Abilities:
- Must demonstrate current competencies applicable for the position such as strong computer skills and good communication skills.
- Ability to enter accurately data.
- Knowledge of clinic/medical practice procedures related to all medical operations.
- Knowledge of phone system, copiers, and fax machines.
- Must be skilled in customer service and have a pleasant and courteous demeanor while dealing with all patients and callers.
- Must be well organized and detail organized and be able to work independently without much supervision.
- Must have skills in critical thinking, communication, listening, influence and decision making.
- Must have the ability to work cooperatively as a member of office staff and team.
Mental/Physical Requirements:
- Mostly sedentary position.
- Hand/arm injury possible from repetitive movements.
- Stress generated if high volume of calls and emergencies.
Qualifications
Education
LPN degree; CCNA Certification. On-the-job training in triage.
License and Registrations
State LPN license; CCMA Certification
Current CPR Certificate
Licenses & Certifications
