Our Outpatient services specialize in treatment mental health and substance use disorders with treatment and skills groups, as well as community resources.

Outpatient programs provide trauma-informed care aimed at reducing the harmful impacts of substance use. Participants and their counselors work collaboratively to design an integrated, individualized, strengths-based treatment experience geared towards addressing each client’s specific needs and goals. Outpatient programs provide Individual and group therapy, individualized case management, treatment planning, drug and alcohol counseling, crisis intervention, and connection to social support services.

Job Summary

HealthRIGHT 360, a nonprofit organization and a family of programs, is committed to providing accessible

and comprehensive healthcare services to vulnerable populations. Our mission is to tackle systemic

barriers to healthcare and promote health equity for all. We offer a wide range of services, including

mental health care, residential and outpatient substance use treatment, and primary health services.

Additionally, we provide transitional support for individuals re-entering the community after involvement

in the criminal justice system. By integrating physical and behavioral health, we empower individuals to

overcome challenges by addressing social determinants of health, fostering resilience, and facilitating

recovery.

Prototypes’ Outpatient Behavioral Health Centers provide comprehensive mental health services for men,

women and children. Services range from prevention and early intervention to intensive services for those

with more serious or chronic conditions. Staff provide services at Prototypes and in the community. These

can include individual, group and family therapy, psychiatric treatment, medication management and

medication-assisted therapies, case management, and referrals and coordination with primary care

clinics.

The Clinical Therapist I provides direct mental health services under the supervision of a licensed clinician

in compliance with California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) requirements. Duties include conducting

clinical assessments, contributing to diagnostic impressions, developing treatment plans, providing

therapeutic interventions, and assisting with crisis management. Services are delivered through

individual, group, and family therapy across a variety of settings such as outpatient offices, residential

treatment facilities, schools, and field-based locations, depending on client and program needs. The

therapist collaborates closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, client-centered care

that aligns with the organization’s mission and values.

This is a primarily in-person role, with the option to work remotely up to two (2) days per week after

successful completion of the probationary period, based on program needs and supervisor approval.

Remote work flexibility is subject to change in accordance with the organization’s policies. Due to travel

between service locations, reliable transportation and a valid California driver’s license are required.

Key Responsibilities

Treatment Setting

  • Conduct psychosocial and diagnostic assessments under supervision, including risk assessments,

consistent with BBS regulations.

  • Collaborate with clients (and families, when appropriate) to develop treatment goals and plans,

reviewed and co-signed by a licensed supervisor as required.

  • Provide individual, group, and/or family psychotherapy under supervision, using evidence-based

interventions within scope of practice.

  • Monitor client progress and update treatment plans with supervisor input.
  • Provide crisis assessment and intervention in accordance with agency protocols, with immediate

access to licensed clinical consultation as needed.

  • Participate in after-hours crisis response rotation (if applicable) under supervision and within

agency protocols.

  • Deliver services in outpatient, residential, school, or community settings, in accordance with

program needs and supervisor direction.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Seek regular clinical consultation and supervision for all treatment activities, especially high-risk

or complex cases.

  • Work collaboratively with the treatment team (Case Managers, Counselors, Medical staff,

Psychiatrists, Peer Support Specialists) to ensure coordinated care.

  • Attend and actively participate in case conferences, treatment planning meetings, and clinical

team discussions.

Compliance

  • Maintain active BBS Associate registration and comply with all supervision and reporting

requirements.

  • Participate in weekly individual and/or group supervision, ensuring documentation of supervision

hours per BBS guidelines.

  • Complete all documentation (assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, discharge

summaries, outcome measures, and reports) within required timelines and submit to supervisor

for review/approval when necessary.

  • Draft client progress letters, reports, and/or court documents with supervisor review and

approval before submission.

  • Ensure documentation meets Medi-Cal, HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, BBS, and agency standards.
  • Maintain productivity expectations while upholding clinical and ethical standards.

Administration and Other Duties

  • Attend mandatory clinical supervision sessions weekly, as required by BBS for pre-licensed

therapists.

  • Participate in agency and program meetings as directed.
  • Complete all required trainings, including Law & Ethics (minimum 6 hours every renewal cycle),

and other mandatory agency trainings.

  • Pursue ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice training opportunities.
  • Maintain communication with supervisor regarding clinical caseload, risk issues, and professional

development needs.

  • Review agency emails daily and respond as appropriate.

And perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Certification, or Licensure

  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related

field from an accredited graduate school.

  • Registration from the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an AMFT, APCC, or ACSW.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Valid California Driver’s License and access to registered and insured transportation.

Experience

  • Experience treating clients with co-occurring disorders preferred.
