The Physical Therapy Assistant plays a crucial role in providing direct resident care activities under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
Responsibilities:
- Administer physical therapy treatments to residents according to treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist.
- Assist the Physical Therapist with tests, evaluations, and complex treatment procedures.
- Observe, record, and report to the therapist conditions, reactions, and responses related to assigned duties.
- Maintain daily records of treatments and document progress notes on residents as directed by the Physical Therapist.
- Conduct admission screenings and assist with consulting family members, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ensure the proper maintenance of the physical therapy department and equipment.
- Participate in in-service programs and meetings as assigned by the Physical Therapist.
- Engage in ongoing education opportunities to maintain clinical currency.
- Comply with Heritage Healthcare's regulatory and professional standards and guidelines.
- Attend and participate in rehabilitation team conferences regarding resident progress, problems, or needs.
- Acknowledge facility policies and procedures and contribute to facility quality improvement and safety programs.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
- Graduation from an approved Physical Therapy Assistant program.
- Current licensure or eligibility for licensure under state statutes.
- Prior experience in a setting serving the same age/type of resident population is preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (neat handwriting) and interpersonal abilities.
- Capacity to understand and follow the directions of the Physical Therapist and facility policies.
- Ability to complete activities safely and at times for prolonged periods, including standing, pushing, lifting, stooping, reaching, and balancing.
