Be available to work assigned shifts, including daytime shifts of 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m., as well as flexible daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday schedules based on business needs.
The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring that members and guests are provided with a clean and safe pool environment by performing the following duties.
- Instructs individuals or groups on proper swimming techniques and pool safety.
- Monitors pool(s) for purposes of maintaining safety of members and guests participating in group or individual aquatic exercise.
- Knowledgeable of pool schedules, classes, programming, and rules, promptly answers questions on pool operation for members and guests.
- Oversees, implements and follows emergency plans, including evacuation routes from the pool area.
- Dresses appropriately at all times, i.e. able to enter the water at any time to render assistance.
- Maintains the hourly count of people in the pools.
- Makes sure the deck is kept free of debris, hazards and puddles.
- Ensures that chemical readings are performed for all pools according to the Club schedule and are recorded in the log.
- Tests chemical levels, as needed in accordance with Club policy.
- Assures that members do not enter the pump or mechanical rooms.
- Assists instructors while classes are being conducted.
- Answers deck phone(s) and handles calls accordingly.
