Position Summary:
Responsible for performance and reporting of clinical laboratory testing using a variety of automated, semi-automated and manual technologies. Responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of test results, initial troubleshooting of problems, instrument maintenance and following safe laboratory practices.
Work Schedule:
- Overnights shift 7 on 7 off
Required Qualifications:
Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or related field.Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:
Current certification as Medical Technologist (MT/CLS/MLS) or equivalent by a national board of registry i.e. ASCP, AMT.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients of all age groups (neonatal through geriatric).
- Must have manual dexterity to perform venipunctures safely and accurately.
- Ability to identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results. Must possess knowledge of lab testing capabilities for Immunohematology, Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Serology, Urinalysis, Microbiology and Phlebotomy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum one year hospital laboratory experience preferred.
