Surgical Tech II PRN

Job Summary: To perform all basic surgical technician responsibilities in all areas. To serve as lead tech for a surgical specialty. To provide technical information to other team members and co-workers by way of educational in-services. To prepare the operating room for surgical procedures ensuring availability of required items in accordance with regulatory and infection control standards. To perform job duties

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Surgical techniques and equipment knowledge. Infection control and regulatory sterilization standards understanding. Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills including effective interaction with surgical team members. Team-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Maintains inventory of clean and sterilized surgical equipment, instruments, and supplies in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Provides basic surgical support including room set-up, sterile field management, handling of specimen and instruments, and room turnover.
• Assesses the equipment, instrument, and supply needs for surgical procedures and ensures availability.
• Ensures the proper functioning of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies during surgical procedures and serves as resource to co-workers.
• Follows infection control policies, AORN recommendation practices, OSHA guidelines, and other regulatory requirements in the daily practice in order to assure a safe work environment for self, coworkers, and patients.
• In conjunction with CNS, provides educational offerings to co-workers related to technical aspect of surgical specialty. Demonstrates core standards of exceptional customer service.

Requirements

Requirements: Graduate of an approved school of Surgical Technology plus two (2) years of Surgical Tech experience.
