Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for hemodynamically stable and stabilizing PCU/step-down patients on a medical/surgical unit
- Monitor vitals, administer medications and IV therapies, manage telemetry, and operate advanced medical equipment (including lines, pumps, and ventilatory support as needed)
- Care for patients with central lines, chest tubes, arterial lines, and nasogastric tubes; support short-term ventilation and invasive monitoring
- Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, and multidisciplinary teams; participate in discharge planning and patient/family education
- Assess and respond to potential deterioration with skilled assessment, timely interventions, and adherence to established policies; assist with precepting and orienting staff as needed
Requirements
- Montana RN license in good standing
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required or obtained within 6 months of hire
- TNCC and/or EPNC certification preferred
- Pediatric experience preferred; post-heart catheterization experience preferred
- Ability to operate advanced medical equipment, perform basic cardiac telemetry interpretation, and provide care for patients with complex needs in a PCU/step-down setting
