Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for OB patients across antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum phases, including fetal monitoring, medication administration, and preparation for delivery.
- Monitor maternal status and fetal wellbeing; recognize and respond to obstetric emergencies following unit protocols.
- Float to the Med/Surg unit when OB is closed, delivering competent nursing care to Med/Surg patients as needed.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesia, and ancillary staff; document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic health record.
- Ensure patient safety and infection control, participate in shift handoffs, and provide patient and family education as appropriate.
Requirements
- Current Minnesota RN license (active).
- OB/GYN and Med/Surg clinical skills.
- Ability to float between OB and Med/Surg and work rotating day/night shifts.
- COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions and declinations allowed).
