Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to adult patients on the Neuro/Ortho/MS/Tele unit, including postoperative orthopedic, neurological, stroke, and general medical-surgical cases
- Monitor telemetry (unit and remote), administer medications, start IVs, manage PCA, and oversee PICC line care per protocol
- Assess patient status, escalate changes, implement care plans, and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team
- Document in EPIC, ensure compliance with isolation precautions and PPE, and participate in patient and family education
- Support stroke and total joint replacement care pathways, wound care, mobility/rehabilitation activities, and discharge planning
- Maintain patient safety, infection control, and quality-of-care standards; coordinate with ancillary services as needed
Requirements
- Licensure: Active RN license in the United States; pending license accepted
- Certifications: BCLS and NIHSS required; ACLS required by system policy and must be obtained by the compliance hard-document deadline
- Experience: 2 years RN experience preferred; first-time travelers accepted
- Clinical skills: Telemetry monitoring, IV start/maintenance; PICC line management; PCA experience; care for CVA/stroke and total joint replacement patients; isolation precautions/PPE
- Environment: Ability to work in an acute care MS/Tele unit; floating as needed to units other than ICU, SDU, or ED
- Location restrictions: Local candidates within a 75-mile radius are not accepted
- Pre-employment/compliance: Labs to be completed within 48–72 hours of signing; WorkRamp pre-start modules must start within 1 week of contract and be completed by 2 Fridays prior to start; documentation due by 3pm CST on the Monday before the initial start date; fit testing as required
