Responsibilities
- Deliver direct perioperative patient care for adult CVOR patients, aligned with established nursing standards and care plans
- Assist the operating room team during cardiovascular procedures, including preparation, instrument and equipment handling, and patient positioning
- Monitor patient status intra- and post-operatively; report changes to the surgical team and document findings in the electronic health record (EPIC)
- Administer medications per physician orders and ensure safe medication practices in the perioperative setting
- Maintain surgical asepsis, sterile technique, and infection control protocols; manage equipment and supply readiness in Omnicell
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiology, circulators, and other team members; participate in on-call coverage as scheduled
- Complete required documentation and ensure accurate handoffs at the end of cases
- May float to other CVOR areas if census is low, as needed
Requirements
- 1 year(s) of CVOR or perioperative nursing experience
- Current New York State RN license
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with an associate's degree (ADN)
- Certifications: ACLS and BLS
- Ability to work in a CVOR environment and participate in two 10-hour shifts per week
- Comfortable with Epic electronic health record and Omnicell systems
- On-call availability up to 7 days per four-week schedule, including one full weekend
- Floating to other CVOR areas may be required if census is low
