- Contract type: Travel - temporary assignment in a hospital OR
- Patient care: 1:1 ratios during days and nights; mandatory call
- Scheduling approach: Block schedule with possible accommodations; floating across specialties
- Locational rule: Candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted
- RTO: Minimal; cannot submit candidates with more than 10 days of requested time off
- Serve as circulating nurse in the operating room, maintaining sterile technique and assisting the surgical team throughout ortho (total joint & trauma), neuro, GYN/urology, vascular, and thoracic procedures
- Prepare the OR, position patients, apply appropriate monitoring, and ensure proper instrument and implant counts; handle specimen labeling and routing
- Administer or coordinate intraoperative care, support anesthesia, manage equipment setup (including robotic-assisted and laparoscopic systems such as Da Vinci Xi), and respond to intraoperative changes
- Maintain accurate intraoperative documentation in EPIC; communicate with the team and perioperative services to support patient safety and flow
- Assist with post-anesthesia care handoff and contribute to immediate postoperative containment and room turnover as needed
- Participate in unit-based efforts, including interdisciplinary rounds, rapid response as applicable, and adherence to unit policies and compliance requirements
- Active New York RN license in hand to submit (pending licenses not accepted)
- BLS certification required
- CNOR certification listed in posting; recruiter to confirm whether required for this assignment
- OR/perioperative experience: posting lists 3 years; compliance notes indicate 1 year—recruiter will verify exact requirement
- Travel experience required; unit does not accept first-time travelers
- EPIC charting experience required (hard requirement per compliance notes)
- Mandatory competencies: phlebotomy and IV insertion
- Unit-specific capabilities: sterile technique across a range of procedures; ability to float across specialties; able to work a 4x10 schedule and participate in call shifts
- Education: RN degree (bachelor’s or associate degree as applicable for licensure)
