A healthcare facility in the Watertown, NY area is seeking an experienced Food Service Director to oversee daily dietary operations and lead the food service department. This role is responsible for maintaining high standards of food quality, sanitation, and department efficiency while supporting overall resident satisfaction and daily operations.
Duties include planning, assigning, and supervising the work of food service staff; creating schedules and assisting with department payroll preparation as needed; overseeing the storage and handling of food and supplies; and ensuring cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, dining, storage areas, and equipment. The Food Service Director will inspect meal trays for menu accuracy and dietary compliance, assist on the tray line during meal service when necessary, coordinate food preparation for special events, manage ordering and purchasing, and provide staff training and orientation.
Qualified candidates must hold a Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Prior healthcare food service experience is strongly preferred. ServSafe or Sodexo certification is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate strong knowledge of large-scale and therapeutic food preparation, solid leadership and supervisory skills, effective communication abilities, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
