Infection Prevention Nurse Duties:
- Infection Control Program:
- Develop, implement, and oversee infection prevention and control policies and procedures specific to the nursing home setting.
- Conduct regular infection surveillance, track infection rates, and investigate any outbreaks to determine sources and prevent further spread.
- Ensure adherence to infection control regulations and guidelines established by local, state, and federal agencies.
- Education and Training:
- Provide ongoing education and training to staff on infection prevention techniques, including proper hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and protocols for managing infectious diseases.
- Develop and distribute educational materials and conduct training sessions to keep staff informed about best practices in infection control.
- Monitoring and Reporting:
- Perform routine audits of infection control practices and procedures within the nursing home.
- Analyze infection data, prepare reports, and make recommendations for improving infection prevention strategies and practices.
- Collaboration and Consultation:
- Work closely with healthcare providers, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to address infection control concerns and implement effective solutions.
- Serve as a consultant to clinical and administrative staff on infection prevention matters, providing guidance and support as needed.
Qualifications:
- Licensure/Certification: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required. Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred or must be obtained within a specified timeframe.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of infection prevention and control.
- Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of infection control practices and regulations relevant to nursing home environments.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to design and deliver effective training programs tailored to the needs of nursing home staff.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in using training software and tools.
Working Conditions:
- This position may involve occasional exposure to infectious diseases and requires adherence to standard infection control precautions.
- Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours as needed for training sessions and emergency response.
- This position is a nurse management position and will require the candidate to take call on a rotating basis.
