Healthcare and Emergency Solutions is seeking a qualified Psychiatrist / Director of Mental Health to provide and oversee psychiatric services within a correctional facility. This role combines direct clinical care with program leadership to ensure safe, effective, and compliant mental health treatment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment planning
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications in accordance with clinical and facility protocols
- Provide clinical leadership and supervision to mental health staff
- Ensure compliance with NCCHC, ACA, and Florida regulatory standards
- Collaborate with medical, nursing, custody, and administrative leadership
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
Required Qualifications
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
- Completion of an accredited U.S. psychiatry residency program
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry (ABPN)
- Active, unrestricted Florida medical license
- Active DEA registration
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Ability to pass a correctional facility security background check
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) or more years of experience in correctional or forensic mental health
- Certified Correctional Health Professional – Mental Health (CCHP‑MH)
- Experience in locked or high‑acuity treatment environments
