The unit has 28 private beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:6-7, and patients may have diagnoses like postoperative, orthopedic, pneumonia, palliative care, or chemotherapy. Nurses participate in holiday and weekend rotations, with flexible self-scheduling. Must be adaptable to care for COVID patients and those on remote telemetry, with no monitoring equipment on the unit. Charting is done via Cerner. Requires ACLS, pharmacology, skills checklist, and specialty exam for onboarding.
