Job Description:
Perform engineering work under supervision to perform standard equipment maintenance and repair following safety procedures.
Essential Functions:
Perform the following mechanical and electrical work:
- Maintain, Repair, Modify, and Install Machinery, Equipment, Physical Structures, and Pipes
- Determine the cause and extent of the components' system failure by testing, listening, and visual inspection for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions.
- Develop and maintain a plan to accomplish strict deadlines on defective machines and equipment.
- Lay out assemblies, install and maintain pipe systems and pneumatic equipment, and repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
- Install, align, tension, and maintain chain and sprocket drives, gear drives, belt drivers, flexible couplings, pillow block bearings, shaft assemblies, brake assemblies, and pulleys.
- Dismantle defective machines and equipment, replace faulty parts and motors, and adjust the feed mechanism according to specifications and blueprints using measuring equipment and tools.
- Implement and perform preventative maintenance to prevent malfunctions and prolong the life of equipment, systems, and structures.
- Conduct routine inspections, reviewing work orders to determine service required on equipment and boilers.
- Changing fluids, replacing belts, and conducting safety inspections of equipment systems and components.
- Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery using rags, brushes, a grease gun, and other appropriate tools and/or equipment.
- Promptly answer service requests by staff and facility employees
- Must be able to work safely and have a clear understanding of HAZMAT, SDS, EPA, and OSHA requirements
- Use personal protective equipment when required and necessary.
- Observe surroundings and practice safety guidelines.
- Operate machines and equipment correctly and safely
- Safely operate a forklift/man lift and always wear proper safety equipment/harnesses.
- Use the proper tools for the job and comply with company practices
- Know the appropriate reporting of an accident or emergency.
- Know and explain hazards associated with specific types of equipment and tools.
