Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced RN Quality Nurse Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The Quality Nurse Coordinator will perform the duties of the department in accordance with current applicable Federal, State, and local standards/regulations and as may be directed. The QA Nurse also coordinates Risk Management by assessing potential or actual areas of risk and compliance with regulatory standards in an effort to protect the organization’s financial, human and property assets through minimizing exposure and ensuring compliance.
Duties
- Coordinate patient care activities across various departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and enhance the quality of care.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients and families about treatment options, medication administration, and follow-up care.
- Manage case management processes including discharge planning and referrals to appropriate services.
- Provide support in critical situations, including triage and emergency response as needed.
- Assists in the planning, organization and direction of the Quality Assurance programs and related activities.
- Assists Department Heads and staff in the evaluation of programs and effect changes necessary to improve programs and assure compliance within the Quality Assurance program and prepare reports as required.
- Establishes and maintains tracking systems for identified problems/indicators.
- Develops and implements appropriate plans of action to correct identified deficiencies as needed.
- Performs administrative requirements such as completing forms, writing reports, etc.; and submit to the Director of Nursing or appropriate agency as directed.
- Schedules committee meetings and notifies members of such meetings.
- Assists department in developing indicators and follow-ups procedures for identified problems.
- Oversee the implementation of quality improvement initiatives in alignment with standards.
Skills
The ideal candidate should possess a combination of essential skills including but not limited to:
- Proficiency in Athenahealth
- Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alabama.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and CPT coding (preferred). .
- Strong understanding of acute pain management techniques and infection control practices.
- Ability to work with diverse populations including individuals with developmental disabilities or those requiring memory care.
