Job Summary
Under the direction of the Chief Clinical Officer the Director of Quality and Regulatory Compliance is responsible for managing the operations of the Accreditation, Quality, and Risk Management Staff. The responsibilities include the coordination of data collection, organization quality improvement initiatives and Regulatory Compliance activities along with communication of the results of these activities to the Board of Directors, Senior Management, Nursing, and the Provider staff. The individual demonstrates personal and professional responsibility, creates and maintains an environment that promotes mutual trust, acceptance, recognition and respect, and assumes responsibility for own professional development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plans, organizes and directs the Quality Assurance programs and related activities.
- Develops methods to track, trend, and report pertinent clinical, financial, and quality data as indicated in the Plan to Improve Organizational Performance or as needed for other organization data requirements.
- Facilitates automation of data collection and within the organization functioning as a resource in the use of data management and process control tools. Benchmarking appropriate data and sharing results with the senior management staff and Board of Directors as indicated.
- Operates and maintains comparative data bases that support clinical performance improvement initiatives.
- Monitors the HRSA 18 Requirement ensuring compliance in areas of responsibility. Collaborates with clinical leadership by suggesting areas for improvement utilizing outcomes data that is collected for public reported data through chart reviews/abstractions and audits.
- Prepares, screens, submits, maintains, analyzes and presents reports associated with organizational needs using data management and performance measurement system vendors and statistical process control tools.
- Prepares pertinent documents and reports for various committees regarding performance improvement activities, including the preparation of reports for the Board of Directors, senior management team and Quality Committee.
- Participates in continuous preparation for accreditation and regulatory site visits by external agencies.
- Coordinates public reported projects, i.e. Core Measures, National Quality Measures Initiative and facilitates related teams as assigned.
- Assists in the investigation of incidents of incidents and injuries.
- Develops and delivers educational programs revolving around all components of Quality Assurance, including orientation for new employees and programs to address the Quality Assurance process and the regulatory guidelines.
- Assesses, develops and maintains organization-wide policies and guidelines that provide structure for risk reduction activities and educates the staff of risk reduction strategies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience
- Proven experience in a leadership role within a healthcare environment, focusing on quality assurance and control.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 13485, FDA regulations, HACCP, CGMP, ISO 9001 standards.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting quality audits and inspections.
- Proficiency in project management principles with strong analytical skills to interpret data effectively.
- Experience with QA/QC methodologies and tools for continuous improvement initiatives.
- Certifications and/or Registrations: Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Alabama (required)
- 5 years of quality improvement data bases and leadership within the quality department.
