Somers Orthopedics is seeking a Surgical Orthopedic Physician Assistant (PA). The Surgical Orthopedic Physician Assistant provides surgical and clinical support to orthopedic surgeons, including patient evaluation, assisting in procedures, and managing pre- and post-operative care to ensure optimal musculoskeletal treatment outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Assist orthopedic surgeons in surgical procedures, including preoperative preparation and intraoperative support.
- Conduct patient evaluations, take medical histories, and perform physical exams.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests (X-rays, MRI, CT scans, labs).
- Manage pre- and postoperative care, including wound care, rehabilitation guidance, and complication monitoring.
- Educate patients and families on conditions, procedures, and recovery plans.
- Document patient care accurately and maintain medical records.
- Collaborate with surgical and healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes.
- State licensure to practice
- 2 years' experience in Orthopedics preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Excellent attention to detail
- Knowledge of diagnostic equipment and procedures
