POSITION SUMMARY
The Medical Staff Coordinator I provides administrative and operational support to the Medical Staff Services department. The Medical Staff Coordinator I is an entry-level position that assists with credentialing, privileging, and medical staff governance processes under close supervision. The Medical Staff Coordinator I supports the development of foundational knowledge in medical staff operations, regulatory compliance, and healthcare credentialing.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Assists in collecting, organizing, and verifying documentation for initial and reappointment credentialing files.
- Enters and updates practitioner data in credentialing software systems.
- Maintains accurate and confidential records of medical staff members.
- Supports in tracking expiration dates for certifications, and other required documents.
- Performs data entry duties to support the medical staff quality functions and Continuing Medical Education (CME) and student functions.
- Provides administrative support for medical staff meetings, including scheduling, and catering and assist in preparing agendas, and taking minutes.
- Distributes meeting materials and minutes in accordance with department policies.
- Delivers support to maintain departmental policies and procedures in alignment with medical staff bylaws and regulatory standards.
- Serves as a point of contact for routine inquiries from licensed practitioners, hospital departments, and external organizations.
- Works with the communication team to send all medical staff communications.
- Puts together the monthly physician lounge PowerPoint
- Escalates complex issues to senior staff and leadership as appropriate.

- Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Demonstrates excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and organize to maximize quality, value and service.
- Must be able to work independently prioritize and organize work to maximize quality, value and service.
- Ability to work in multiple locations in the Hospital Division.
- Demonstrates a commitment to learning and growth within the department.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Associate’s degree in a relevant field.
- Work Experience:
- Prior administrative or healthcare experience.
- Experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in medical staff services, credentialing, or provider relations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, and stooping.
- Long periods of computer time or at workstation.
- Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.
- May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
- Workspace may vary from open to confined.
- May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
