AHEC Program Manager (Bilingual Only)
Reports to: Area Health Education Center Director

The Program Manager delivers workforce trainings and health education including, but not limited to, Youth Health Service Corps, CPR training, Medical Interpreter Training.
The individual must be bilingual and demonstrate fluency through formal assessment prior hire. The Program Manager is personable and responsive to cultural nuances that impact health care and its workforce. The Program Manager is a dynamic, personable, and flexible individual that enjoys working with diverse community stakeholders and equipping healthcare and service providers with the tools and skills to keep residents healthy.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Working under the supervision of the AHEC Director, the AHEC Program Manager will:
- Engage with school and university liaisons to recruit high school, college, and/or health professions students to participate in the health profession pipeline programs
- Conduct participant volunteer trainings and oversee the implementation of service-learning projects
- Coordinate health education sessions, trainings, field trips and guest speakers
- Manage and track student participation in the program and program outcomes
- Conduct program assessments
- Recruit, engage, and maintain communication with community partners and site coordinators
- Other duties as assigned such as teaching CPR
Working Experience Requirements:
- Training and/or teaching experience or relevant job experience
- Bilingual fluency required
- Experience working with individuals and groups from diverse racial, ethic, and cultural backgrounds
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation
Educational Requirements:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or GED
- Associate degree or bachelor's (preferred) degree and/or certification in public health, curriculum development, training, or related fields or the equivalent in work experience
- CPR Trainer or ability to become certified within 90 days of hire
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of public health systems and public health promotion
- Microsoft office proficiency
- Understanding of health equity and social determinants of health
- Able to handle confidential information
- Experience working with different communication styles
Professional characteristics:
- Positive attitude, Organized, Efficient, Goal-oriented, Able to multi-task, Strong verbal and writing skills
US work authorization (Required)
Job type: full - time (40 hours/week)
Job statue: non-exempt
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM, hours may vary and may include nights and weekend.
Location: 55 Main Street, suite 270, Norwich, CT 06360. This position requires a physical presence at the HEC office. However, telework options may be available, but are not guaranteed.
Physical Demands: Requires occasional statewide travel.
