THE OPPORTUNITY

The University of Maryland School of Medicine seeks an exceptional physician-scientist to serve as Chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Nutrition—a dynamic and rapidly growing academic division committed to excellence in patient care, innovative research, and transformative education. The Division has a long-standing mission to deliver premier clinical services to adults with diabetes and endocrine disorders, to advance understanding and treatment through cutting-edge research, and to educate the next generation of clinicians and scientists.

The Chief will be a strategic leader with an ambitious vision for growth, impact, and innovation across all mission areas. This role calls for a collaborative leader who can build on current strengths, foster interdisciplinary partnerships, enhance external visibility, and expand programs that improve health outcomes locally, nationally, and globally.

ELIGIBILITY

Essential

  • MD (or MD/PhD) with ABIM board certification in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism.
  • National distinction as an accomplished physician-scientist with an established record of clinical excellence, research leadership, and academic achievement.
  • Eligibility for an unrestricted medical license in the State of Maryland.
  • Candidates should have national recognition in clinical, translational, basic research, and/or population health with an active, well-funded, research program.
  • Recognized national/international reputation in diabetes, endocrinology, metabolic disease, nutrition, or related research areas.
  • Proven leadership experience in an academic medical setting with a track record of mentorship and faculty development.
  • Recognized national/international reputation in diabetes, endocrinology, metabolic disease, nutrition, or related research areas.

Preferred

  • Experience leading complex multidisciplinary programs or academic divisions.
  • A compelling vision for integrating clinical care, research, and education in innovative and impactful ways.

Compensation

Expected faculty rank for this position will be Associate Professor or higher. The expected range is $286,740 – 438,804; however, final rank, tenure status and salary will be commensurate with selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.

This salary range includes all components of the departmental faculty compensation program or pay from participation in departmental variable compensation programs. Therefore, the actual compensation paid to the selected candidate may vary from the salary range stated herein. For more information, please contact the hiring department.

The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on the University of Maryland School of Medicine’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.
