The major duties of a Physician - Chief will include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for all clinical and administrative functions of the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine service.
- Exercises administrative, programmatic, clinical, anatomical and academic oversight of pathology and laboratory programs to ensure delivery of quality services.
- Serves as the role model (clinical administrator) by providing and monitoring pathology and laboratory care.
- Integrates the pathology and laboratory services into primary functions of the organization.
- Serves as the principle spokesperson and advocate for pathology and laboratory programs within the VA Medical Center.
- Ensures communication and coordination between the Medical Center laboratory services and the clinical/patient care services.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in a related specialty - Anatomic Pathology.
- Possess experience working and managing a Pathology Laboratory.
- The candidate must have demonstrated significant levels of clinical expertise and publication record in pathology disciplines.
- Experience and knowledge in formulating and reporting diagnostic information.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in a related specialty-Anatomic Pathology.
- Possess experience working and managing a Pathology Laboratory.
- Likely starting base salary range: $300,000.00 - $330,000.00

- 50-55 days of annual paid time offer per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
